History:
Key things to note about this History and the all over background:
The world was created by the Alicorn's Order and Harmony. They created Terra and Empyrean to rule over pony kind. Empyrean was under Order's tutelage and handled government and ruling. Terra answered to Harmony and was in charge of nature. However, Order was in constant battles with Discord who made things chaotic as usual.
Eventually Discord corrupts Empyrean and forces Terra to kill her own brother/husband. This drives Order insane once he realizes that Harmony could have saved his son and chose to save ponykind instead. He kills Harmony and forces Terra to be his wife after forcing her to endure a spell that made her cruel instead of kind and loving.
Eventually they create Celestia and Luna and train them to fight and rule. Terra tries to rise up against Titan and they force Luna and Celestia to fight their war for them with their own armies. Eventually the pony sisters turn on their parents, manage to weaken them and imprison them in the heart of the Everfree forest.
Not long after, Luna becomes Nightmare Moon.
Fast forward 1000 years.
For this version of Rarity, there are a few very key changes. For one, Rarity was raised by her father, a unicorn named Esteem up until 10 years prior to the story taking place. Celestia removed both Rarity and her sister from his care and placed them with foster parents after it was found out he murdered his wife.
While she was in his care, he forced Rarity to learn how to be a soldier in order to protect herself and how to blade cast a sword using her special talent. She didn't have a choice in the matter. Arguing or even questioning her father lead to beatings for being disobedient. He was more of a general than a parent.
Because of his teachings, Rarity is a competent fighter and has intense focus, wielding 14 individual diamond shards that tesselate together to form a sword to fight with and becomes one of the most skillful mortal blade castors.
For ten years, Rarity focused more on her true passion and her sister, promising to do everything she could to protect Sweetie Belle. Her worst fear would be that Esteem would find them and try to harm them for running away.
When Rarity finally meets the fellow elements of harmony, things continue on like in the original series to an unknown point in season 2 where it diverges again drastically.
Celestia and Luna's parents return. They were released from their imprisonment by General Esteem and they corrupt/Brain wash Twilight and make her break down Celestia to her key components to make a new Alicorn to rule pony kind for them.
Luna escapes, starts a rebellion and they manage to save Twilight from the corruption. Then they have to figure out a way to beat the King and Queen who wish to restore the world to the natural order and punish ponykind for their transgressions.
During this time, the element bearers become forces to be reckoned with on the battle field. Rarity becomes the Knight Commander of the Order of Nocturne, Luna's personal knights. Her prowess with her blade, Vorpal, only grows and she ends up facing her father a few different times on the battle field, all of them ending in retreat.
Eventually their Rebellion starts gaining ground after Twilight recovers from her corruption and the fighting becomes more intense. They save Celestia who everyone thought was dead and turned out wasn't and eventually ending with a final assault on Titan's citadel in the Everfree forest after they take down Terra and Twilight manages to make her mortal.
During the final battle, Rainbow Dash moves a huge mega storm by using the combined strength of all the pegasi fighting to counter spin it away from the forest and towards the abandoned Canterlot. Rarity slays a green dragon and earns the nickname Dragonslayer. Fluttershy becomes the new Princess of the forest [Terra's old job].
Rarity nearly dies in this final attack by taking three of Titan's blade shards to the chest to protect Twilight. This infects her with some of Titan's magic and it begins to eat her heart. To save her, they break into the Citadel. They fight against the tower's defenses and as they reach the top Rarity pulls herself out of unconsciousness and tries to fight, sending Vorpal out to defend her friends even as her starts to die. Flesh turns black and dead as she struggles to stay alive. Eventually her heart stops moments before Twilight throws herself into a spell that Titan had crafted that would rob ponykind of its free will. Twilight aimed to disrupt the spell and she did. Twilight Sparkle became a God. Rarity became preserved in crystal while Twilight went off to fight Titan and end the war.
Twilight kills Titan then grabs the mortal Terra to go heal Rarity. By now Titan's spell was breaking down her body but she still had magic left. Twilight used Terra, a being originally created to be physically perfect, as a blueprint to fix Rarity and bring her back to life. She created spell to keep Rarity alive, pumping her blood and holding tissue together as she stripped away Titan's invasive magic and then Twilight used her own flesh to replace Rarity's decaying flesh and breathed life back into the pony on the brink of death. The last thing she did was construct a brand new heart and teleport it piece by piece into Rarity's chest and replacing the old one.
Once she was done, Rarity opened her eyes and was amazed and grateful to still be alive. Then it was just getting caught up in what was going on.
Now that the war is over, it's time to rebuild and crown the newest princess of Equestria.

Rarity is the very embodiment of the element of generosity. She may come across as snobbish, condescending at times but she means well and will bend over backwards to help a friend in need. Whether it be protecting their back in a fight or designing a rather fashionable [and sometimes over the top] dress for an upcoming event. She will stop at nothing to help. Of course, she does have an eye for detail and a passion for fashion to go along with her generous nature. Though sometimes that passion of hers can go a little over board and occasionally she has to be reminded to reign it in. For instance, not getting overly elaborate with her blade casting robes. They serve a function, though the form and embellishments could always use improvement, or at least, Rarity thinks so.
When it comes to her work, Rarity demands perfection and of course this comes out in both her work and her skills on the battle field. Perfect form may save lives after all. This sense of perfection also displays itself in other ways. Originally it was with her talent. Rarity's talent has been stated to be recognizing and creating beauty within the world. If she cannot create say a dress or even a simple hat, she starts to feel a little restless and perhaps a little stressed. As she adapted to war, her perfection and focused helped her with her blade work, making her a formidable opponent and a very competent blade caster. Even with this outlet, she still very much takes every opportunity she can to create even going as far as creating Twilight's Master General uniform out of pieces of the night sky that Princess Luna had given her. The material felt and moved like oil, but Rarity managed to make an awe inspiring uniform for Twilight complete with cape and shoes. [Even though she swears the stars burned her when she handled them.]
There is also another part to Rarity that comes through even as she fights through the war. Rarity views herself as a Lady. She may not have the noble pedigree but that doesn't stop the prim and proper unicorn from acting the part. Though, when push comes to shove, this Lady will not back down from a fight. She is as much of a Knight as she is one of the Canterlot Elite. Of course, with a sense of being a lady comes grace and poise. This has also lead her to be one of the most noticeable mares of the rebel leaders. And at some points, one of the most over dramatic rebel leaders.
The theatrical dramatic bouts she used to go into have been rather dialed down with the seriousness of everything around her. But, that doesn't mean the mare doesn't have her moments. They're just fewer than before. And usually, when they do happen, Applejack is there to be the voice of reason and common sense to her exaggerations.
However, as lady like and confidant as she appears, there are some rather real fears buried deep down in the fashionista. Among them is the fear of her father. Esteem wasn't exactly the most loving stallion towards his family and Rarity fears he may one day come back and try and take Sweetie Belle from her. That fear pushed her to create vorpal, her blade. Rarity weaponized her special talent for the purpose of protecting those closest to her from the Esteem's of the world. Whether it be her sister, or her friends, she will stop at nothing to protect them and be the knight she had secretly wished would have come and saved her as a little filly.
Below her fear of her father is a displeasure of being dirty. At first she despised the thought of being without her beauty products and sleeping on the cold hard ground. As the war raged on and luxuries such as her usual product lines became hard to come by, she adapted. That is not to say she completely got over her obsessive dislike of dirt, she just grew to tolerate it to a certain unavoidable point. However, where there is something she can do about it, she will do something. Even if it's as simple as a bath. Appearances are just as important as respecting titles, even if that somepony is an enemy.
As for the war, it hardened Rarity to the horrors the world under King Titan had to offer. She still retains much of her original personality, it's just tempered with the mind of a soldier. The thoughts on how to better improve armor come as easy as designing a dress to her now. This brutal experience has also done quite a bit to make the mare more determined to succeed in her endeavors. It wouldn't to to only <i>half</i> slay a dragon after all. She is graceful and elegant as any pony can be when it comes to her precision attacks and of course, she needs to look good doing it.
There is one other thing that has changed about Rarity. It has been hinted [and if you ask, she will deny it] that there may be something going on between her and Applejack. If anything they are much closer friends now than ever before. Often times they end up fighting together as a team, Rarity's long range blade casting backing up Applejack's close range attacks.

This was certainly not what I was expecting when I stepped off the train.
[Rarity regards the scroll in her magical grip with a hint of curiosity as she absently pats her mane to make sure it's looking as marvelous as usual. No, this was definitely not what she was expecting in the least! There's a faint hint of blue magic as the white robe she's wearing is cleared of any dust it may have gathered. Behind her the Carousel Boutique can be seen.]
Now will someone be a dear and tell me what's going on? When I left, the town was not nearly this far in construction and I find it hard to believe that any pony could have done this much work in one night. Of course, as much as I appreciate the rebuilding of my boutique, I'm rather disappointed the redesigns I laid out were not taken!
The shape and the color are completely wrong and don't get me started on the theme. I thought I made it rather clear I wished to sweep away the old and start brand new. Of course, now that my boutique has been rebuilt, I suppose I could simply make the changes on the existing building.
[She glances away from the scroll to regard the building behind her.]
Yes… I can definitely work with this.
[A few minutes later she rolls up the scroll and still looks lost in thought.]

Rarity stares up at the building with mix feelings as design ideas run through her mind. She had been serious when she had told Applejack and Pinkie Pie she didn't want to simply rebuild the Boutique. Seeing the building like this was simply a painful reminder of the way the world used to be. Before King Titan arrived. But as painful as the reminder was, Rarity knew she could deal with it. She had too just like everypony else now that the war was over.
However, seeing the Boutique like this had prompted her to take a better look at the buildings around town. It was strange. Everything looked like it used to. There were no signs of reconstruction and even the shades of the colors on the buildings were exact to the way things used to be. Rarity frowned a little, unsure of what exactly to think of this.
Did whoever did this not pay attention to the various notes on how to redesign things? She thought Pinkie and Applejack agreed with her that there were something that needed to be change or even improved. The Boutique was just the one building that concerned her the most and as she could see, none of her redesigns were present. The color scheme was all wrong and so was the over out layout! All that hard work she put into the detailed blueprints gone to waste! Whoever did this would have to answer to her.
Of course, she could work with what was presented to her. That was always a viable idea. After all, there was no sense in tearing down a perfectly good building once it was built. Even, if it wasn't built to <i> her</i> specifications. It was, after all, still a roof over her and Sweetie Belle's head. It would be nice to live in her own place once more! No more sleeping at Sweet Apple Acres.
Rarity felt a slight pang of regret at that. Perhaps, she could spend a few nights out there every once in awhile. Just to let Applejack have someone to talk . And perhaps, she could invite Applejack and Applebloom over here for a sleep over. Sweetie Bell would enjoy that. Of course, that meant Scootaloo would have to come too.
She sighed. Honestly, those three were hardly an issue anymore. Rarity was pretty sure she could handle any mischief that they got into with ease by now. Actually, come to think of it, she really wouldn't mind at all. Perhaps she can keep them entertained with a few stories. That might work...

No more sleeping at Sweet Apple Acres.
Rarity felt a slight pang of regret at that. Perhaps, she could spend a few nights out there every once in awhile. Just to let Applejack have someone to talk . And perhaps, she could invite Applejack and Applebloom over here for a sleep over. Sweetie Bell would enjoy that. Of course, that meant Scootaloo would have to come too.
She sighed. Honestly, those three were hardly an issue anymore. Rarity was pretty sure she could handle any mischief that they got into with ease by now. Actually, come to think of it, she really wouldn't mind at all. Perhaps she can keep them entertained with a few stories. That might work...
